In the summer of 1997, the musicians finished the support tour for Pinkerton and took a break. Some songs can be heard in different collections. Some of the songs entered the Pinkerton long-play in 1996, which is considered as one of the best albums by Weezer. Around the same time, Cuomo started writing the material that was supposed to be the bulk of the conceptual disc Songs From The Black Hole. In December 1994, the band made a pause in the tour to recreate. In 2004, Weezer re-released the disc as Weezer: Deluxe Edition. The second song Buddy Holly, devoted to the popular artist, also became a rock hit. The track titled Undone - The Sweater Song became the hit that year, while the video for it was in heavy rotation on MTV. (Widespread Panic guitarist Jimmy Herring even made the drive up from Atlanta just to see him.) The night was opened by John Bonham's sister, Deborah. The legendary guitarist simply shredded every note and showed why he's at or near the top of so many best guitarist lists. Meanwhile, it was Beck who lit up the night from start to finish. While Rodgers filled his performance with songs from Bad Company and Free, Ann Wilson of Heart focused more on covers of music that influenced her and meant something to her. Who says you can't get better with age? The trio of rock icons hit Charlotte's PNC Music Pavilion on Sunday night and proved they've still got what it takes to hit all the right notes.
